Ways to Give

Children's Neurobiological Solutions is a not-for-profit organization. Under section 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. CNS Tax ID # 77-0558364

Cash or Securities

A gift of cash or securities is of immediate benefit to CNS Foundation and is the most direct way to give. A cash gift entitles you to claim a charitable income tax deduction in an amount up to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income. If a deduction exceeds 50 percent of your adjusted gross income, the balance may be carried forward for up to five additional years. A tax-deductible cash gift allows CNS Foundation to use the funds immediately.

We also encourage you to consider ways to raise the value of your gift to Children’s Neurobiological Solutions Foundation:

Increase the size of your gift
Matching gift programs enable participants to double or sometimes triple their charitable gifts. If this is a program available to you, ask for your company’s matching gift forms, or contact us at CNS Foundation and we will make the appropriate inquiries on your behalf.

Checks should be made payable to CNS Foundation and sent to:

    Children's Neurobiological Solutions Foundation
1223 Wilshire Blvd, #937
Santa Monica, CA 90403

For many donors, an outright gift is not the best means of achieving their philanthropic or estate planning goals. Carefully planned gifts can offer significant estate tax and income benefits, while at the same time allowing donors to make larger gifts to an organization than would otherwise be possible.   The Retained Life Estate Plan
Real Property, such as a primary or vacation home, may be transferred to CNS Foundation while allowing you the right to live in the home for the rest of your life. This is known under federal tax law as a retained life estate agreement. Property can be conveyed to CNS Foundation as an outright gift and would afford significant tax relief, equal to the difference between the “basis” in the property and its fair market value today. This difference serves as a tax deduction but is limited in any one year to 30 percent of your adjusted gross income. Any unused deduction can be carried forward for up to six years. Should you consider an outright gift of this property, CNS Foundation would pay for expenses associated with an appraisal, title report and toxic waste analysis, and other incidental costs related to the transaction. In addition, CNS Foundation would honor you and your family as pioneers in the advancement of effective treatments and therapies for children with neurodevelopmental abnormalities, birth injuries to the nervous system, and related neurological problems.

Remembering CNS Foundation In Your Will
Whether you wish to memorialize a loved one or underwrite research, a bequest can achieve your goals and associate you with Children’s Neurobiological Solutions Foundation forever. Testamentary gifts to CNS Foundation can take many forms:

Cash bequest. CNS Foundation receives a specified dollar amount.

Bequest or devise of property. CNS Foundation receives specified assets, such as securities, an interest in real estate (such as a residence), partnership interest, or tangible personal property (e.g. artwork, jewelry, or antiques).

Residuary bequest or devise. CNS Foundation receives all or a percentage of the remainder of a donor's estate after specific legacies, debts, taxes, and estate expenses have been deducted

Bequest or devise to a life income plan. You can provide one or more loved ones with income for life, after which the assets pass to the CNS Foundation.

Bequest or devise of IRA or other qualified plan. It is usually better to designate CNS Foundation as beneficiary of a qualified plan by using the plan's beneficiary designation form than to leave the assets of the plan to CNS Foundation in your will. Please consult with your attorney or tax advisor.

Including CNS Foundation in your Will
Designating CNS Foundation as a beneficiary in your estate plan would make you a pioneer in our efforts to establish a program that will, in time, allow us to rely on this important source of support. You may make a bequest using a specific amount of cash, an item or property, or the residue of your estate. The following paragraph can be included in your will:

I give, devise, and bequeath to Children’s Neurobiological Foundation, a California nonprofit corporation, located in Santa Barbara, California, the sum of $_________(or other assets herein described).
